Project Outcomes: The project consists of a series of workpackages which together build towards the final project outcomes. The results of each workpackage, which are available to the public, can be found here. Each workpackage is briefly described in order to enable visitors to the site to access the content which interests them. As workpackages are completed; further information will be added.

Workpackage 1 took the form of an initial meeting of all consortium members hosted by the University College Plymouth St. Mark and St. John Wednesday 03/12/08 – Friday 05/12/08 inclusive.

1) An Electronic Bibliography with a range of reading materials which focus on CLIL approaches, recommended by consortium partners which can be found here:

2) Tools used to evaluate teachers’ views of CLIL approaches in all 5 countries of the consortium, which can be found here:

a) A questionnaire for schools to identify any expertise or interest in CLIL
b) A prompt sheet to identify initial beliefs and understandings about CLIL pedagogy
c) A tool for conducting an activity which seeks to identify the skills required for effective CLIL teaching
d) A similar document designed for interviews with experts in CLIL approaches

3) Results of the questionnaires and interviews were summarised by each consortium partner and their reports were then synthesised by partners in Venice. Results can be found below:

Workpackage 4 took the form of a meeting of all consortium members hosted by the University of Seville, Thursday 12/03/09 and Fri 13/03/09.

During the meeting, both the results of field research and the draft profile of a CLIL teacher were discussed. Preparations were made to plan and deliver introductory CLIL sessions to trainee or in-service teachers. Agreement was reached about the content of the introductory session:

1) For focused observation of examples of CLIL teaching during a training session
2) For evaluating CLIL training
3) For self reflection/evaluation following experimental teaching in CLIL.

During workpackage 6, participants in the initial CLIL training experimented with CLIL teaching in primary classrooms. Researchers collected examples of planning and resources. Each lesson was videoed and interviews were conducted with the teacher and pupils. Following the lesson, the teachers evaluated their CLIL practice. A synthesis of these evaluations and their own reflections following observation of the lessons, was compiled by each consortium partner.

Many of the videos are not available for public viewing due to child protection legislation and the requirement for parental permission.
